The next upgrade (V3.5) is underway
[Updated - March 7th 2010]
V3.5 has now finished but release is pending due to an annoying issue with the built-in PHPBB interface which affects a few of the core files. The delay may well prove to be a bonus as we have been able to add some excellent new features in the last week or so. One of which is a chat system specifically for each ladder created which is great for ladder activity, post-match talk and live match organisation. Another recently finished feature, as requested by clients, is a special Match page which allows players to chat about a specific match and also allows team members to upload a video of the match, perfect for posterity or for proof in disputed matches.
New 2010 clients and those clients still within their 1 year of Upgrades allowance will be able to download it as usual at that time.
V3.5 will retain most of the look and feel of V3.2 but will come with enhancements, mainly in the form of better admin to member communication, enhanced CMS type qualities, better notification of matches and challenges, enhanced commenting system, and a new theme.
Vbulletin interface Mod re-released
[Dec 18th 2009]
We have added the previous Vbulletin Mod to the download area. It is still pretty complex and we do still offer an installtion service for it but we have reviewed it, rewritten the instructions and we do believe we have made it sinmpler to follow!
Basically, it can import ALL your current Vbulletin members into the ladder script, and they will keep the same username and password. It will then send visitors to register via the forum in future, and these visitors become members of both.
Make sure you read the instructions VERY CAREFULLY that come with the mod. Contact us via Support if you need any help.
Videos Page Mod released
[Dec 9th 2009]
This is a custom page which displays a configured selection of YouTube videos. You can download this FREE Mod in the Download Area, to your left.
Click
HERE for an example.

The mod is fairly basic and was created for a client who wanted a way to easily show videos that he has uploaded, to his members. Rather than bolting on one of the many video upload scripts or youtube clones out there we decided it makes far more sense to use YouTube itself. This means your members are familiar with it, can easily virally send your videos, add it gives general exposure to your YouTube channel, which you should have in place anyway as part of your social networking along with the script. Also, the videos are hosted by YouTube which makes a huge difference on your server load.
Make sure you read the instructions that come with the mod. Contact us via Support if you need any help.

New GamerCard system on the way
[Nov 30th 2009]
Although we already have a nice gamercard system within Elite Ladders, as standard, we have decided to really go for it, and develop it even further.
Work has already been started by Mark, the original develop of the gamercard system, on our new idea.
The whole gamercard system will be run on a separate domain/website. Clients will use this as a special gamercard community where we plan to have competitions and the ability for clients to upload their own backgrounds.
The main feature benefit will be that not only will the cards take the latest data from the stats of a team on any given ladder but will ALSO take the live PSN/XBLive data from the respective network. We intend to give member of all of our sites the chance to choose what he wishes to show as well. For example, they might wish to show a bit of ladder info and a bit of network info all on the one card, or simply use the card for either.
We expect to get the main bulk of this finished during December with an official release in January.
This will be a FREE Mod/Service. There will be minimal file disruption as the main gamercards will be processed at another site. This also cuts down dramatically on your server overheads.
Contact us for further details.
Got a Mod?
[Nov 27th 2009]
We appreciate several clients like to write mods, add their own script enhancements, and are then happy to pass the Mods on to the community.
Mods will be added to the Download area, for easy access by all clients. You can send your Mods to us via the support desk system, or via email: support @ eliteladders.com
Elite Ladders deals with Mods in a few different ways:
- Free | We will upload your Mod for download to the community. If you wish to be credited with this Mod then you should include your Name and/or Site URL along with the Support Ticket. If you are a programmer by trade then this URL link could be to your trade website.
- Low Cost | We are happy to give you some beer money for small Mods that we believe add value to the community. No credit will be given in this case. Typically, pay for small mods will be between $2.00 and $25.00
- Medium Cost | As above but payment for a larger body of work will likely be higher.
- Large Scale Work | Programmer looking to write full Ad-Ons or Modules with substantial work involved can sell us the rights directly for a one off cost or we can take over the rights but offer commission on each mod sold to the community.
If you have any questions on any of the above then please contact us.
TipsIf you offer Mods for free and get the credit, it a great way to get people to then visit your website where you can sell further Mods yourself! This is fine with us but please make sure that your clients understand that they implement the Mod at their own risk and we may not support it.
Download Area now ready
[Nov 19th 2009]
You can now download themes and gamercards from the new download area on this site.
Click on the 'Download Area' link on the left hand side menu.
You will need to register separately in order to access this area. Your Client Area accessd details will not work in this case.
We believe we have found a way to allow specific clients to Upload their own Mods for other clients to download. As usual, we will either pay for these mods, credit you for the mods or you can take a payment (the last bit we are working on...)
Mods Area
[Nov 15th 2009]
We are in the process of creating a special area whereby you will be able to download Mods, themes and other goodies for Elite Ladders.
We are also hoping to have an Upload area, for members to upload the Mods that they have created. If we can add a Pay-to-Download section then this will also allow clients to sell their own Mods from this site.
First stage is just sorting out the basic Mod downloads, like extra blocks, VB-Mod and the other themes.
Keep an eye out.
Live Events
[Nov 15th 2009]
Work has now begun on the Live Events module.
This will run similar to Tournaments in the way that members sign up. After that, it gets very different.
Designated members will host the live events, such as a Call of Duty free for all event at 7.30PM EST. They will report back the results. These results will give XP to the live event participants.
There will be leaderboards for these live events, for each game, each platform, and overall site XP. There will also be a monthly leaderboard which will be an excellent way to motivate your members, perhaps by offering prizes each month.
